Just because you’re working from a standing desk doesn’t mean that you’re helping your posture. The iconic Hunchback of Notre Dame is historically shown standing & walking around … how healthy does his physique appear to you?
The common phrase repeated by moms everywhere - “Sit Up Straight” – is also applicable to standing: “Stand Up Straight!” Applying this philosophy to standing desks and standing desk conversion kits suggests that you should pay attention to your standing posture as much as you do to your seated posture because yes, it is possible to hunch and slouch while you’re standing.
If you use a stand up desk in the office, we encourage you to be cognizant of your standing posture. Too often, we see people standing with an unnatural forward lean hunching over screens that are too low.
If you choose to use an electric standing desk, consider adding an adjustable height monitor riser to elevate screens to a healthy height. If you prefer to convert your existing desk into a sit/stand workspace be sure the standing desk conversion that you choose allows you to raise monitors high enough so you aren’t becoming a standing hunchback.
